What happens at a Small Group Singing Medicine Event?
Each event begins with simple grounding exercises so people have a solid sense of being in their body. Then we lead a short guided heart focused meditation to help participants increase energetic flow, self awareness and their capacity to receive what Singing Medicine can bring through.
After this Robin and John begin to sing. Combining masculine and feminine voices, we work our way around the circle offering spontaneous singing prayer to each person. Often as we approach each participant, one of us stands before them and makes eye contact. Participants choose what is most comfortable for them by either engaging in this eye contact or by closing their eyes. Either way is fine. Often those who choose to engage feel deeply seen in a positive and profound way.
As we offer our Singing Medicine we listen and sense what is healing medicine for each person in each moment. The volume, melody, percussion and nature of the singing and how we move around participants is as unique as each person. Robin has stood in front of people in playful laughter at her joy of seeing the beauty of that person’s soul until the whole group is laughing joyfully. Some people’s souls ask for strong singing to call them to the next level of development in their purpose. For others, soothing and nurturing lullaby sounds are needed to support them in a tender time.
Safety and permission are the foundation of creating a space for people to receive the singing. We create a truly safe place where each person is honored. Our skill in this has come from years of training. Robin has been a Craniosacral therapist for a decade and John has trained extensively as a monitor and master for enlightenment intensives along with his coaching practice.
We repeatedly get feedback that the whole group benefits as we sing to each individual.
Next we lead the group in a toning/sounding exercise. Here again people have the choice to join in or just listen. By this point most everyone feels so open there is a pouring forth of soul sounds. It is a rich mixture of human discordance to beauty and an exploration of anything from animal noises to angelic harmonies.
After the group toning we all stand in rich silence. This is the integration time to sense in one’s body what has changed. At this point there is commonly a palpable sense of communion in the group that is beyond what words can adequately express. It is extraordinary and deeply nourishing. Singing Medicine offers an opportunity for community spiritual gathering that is completely unattached to any belief system but foundational to the soul. We feel humans need to experience sacredness in community in order to feel whole in our lives, in our bodies, and supported in our creative purpose.
Finally we ask if people want to state a commitment before the group such as, “I commit to doing more self care”, or “I commit to making clear well lit workspace to do my art”, or “I am in authentic relationship with my gifts.” We close each event with Robin offering a prayer to send this magic out to benefit all beings.
Experiencing Singing Medicine is truly an opportunity to feel your body and spirit awaken. We welcome you to join us.
